One of London’s Most Famous Addresses Is About to Become a Hotel

Waldorf Astoria London, Admiralty Arch – Opening October 2026

There are very few buildings in this country that genuinely stop you.

Admiralty Arch is one of them.

Standing at the ceremonial entrance to The Mall since 1912, it has watched coronations, state funerals and some of the most significant moments in modern British history unfold beneath its arches. Commissioned by King Edward VII as a memorial to Queen Victoria, designed by Sir Aston Webb and positioned at the heart of one of the world’s most recognisable streetscapes, it is in every sense one of London’s most extraordinary addresses.

And this October, it opens as the Waldorf Astoria London.

I’ve followed this project for years. The restoration has been a remarkable undertaking – one of the country’s finest Grade I listed buildings brought back to life as a hotel of genuine world class standard, without losing an ounce of what makes it so extraordinary in the first place. The scale of what has been achieved here, both architecturally and in terms of the hospitality offering, is genuinely impressive.

What strikes me most is the ambition behind it.

At a moment when London’s luxury hospitality market is already among the most competitive in the world, the Waldorf Astoria London isn’t simply adding another exceptional hotel to the city. It is taking one of the most iconic addresses on the planet and giving it a new purpose – one that feels entirely worthy of its history.

The suites. The restaurants. The private dining spaces carved from rooms that have hosted some of the most significant conversations of the last century. Every detail has been considered with the same reverence the building deserves.

For me, this is about more than a hotel opening.

It is a statement about London. About the confidence this city has in its own significance. About its extraordinary ability to take the most iconic addresses in the world and present them to a new generation without ever compromising what made them matter in the first place.

The world’s most discerning travellers have always chosen London. They always will. Admiralty Arch simply gives them one more extraordinary reason to do so.

I can’t wait to experience it.
